It’s a wrap! The third Duga Resa cup „Anton Tova Stipančić In Memoriam“ is over!

If you were to ask the participants of the 3rd Duga Resa city cup to describe the tournament in a single word, you’d hear “thrilling” more than once. The organizers have truly outdone themselves, as witnessed by numerous accolades received from the players, viewers and special guests. However, more hard work is planned for the next year’s tournament edition, for which the organizers are hoping to iron out any leftover creases. The tournament brought together battle-hardened veterans not only from Croatia but from six more countries:

eight Chinese, five German, five Slovenian, four Serbian, two Bulgarian and two Hungarian commandos fired their best shots over the course of two thrilling days of competition.

The already superb player roster was complemented by the presence of the former world champion Istvan Jonyer, and the former European champion Eduard Vecko, as well as the current Bulgarian ambassador in Belgrade, mr. Georgi Hristov.

The early birds, that had already arrived on Friday (June 7th), were treated to a intimate get-together against the lush, gorgeous backdrop of Duga Resa outskirts, and on Saturday all the participants were treated to a fun soiree held at the “Mrežnička kuća” restaurant, located in Zvečaj (just outside Duga Resa). The Chinese table tennis delegation had such a good time that they threatened to come back next year with a vengeance, in even larger numbers!

We hope this year’s tournament edition continued to earn the privilege of bearing the name of the late table tennis titan Anton Tova Stipančić.
